For six generations, Tupperware preserved leftovers and gave women a good excuse to party, but recently it seemed that those parties had become passé. Then Dixie Longate got involved. With her bouffant hairdo, trailer-park pedigree and penchant for calling everyone “Hooker,” the drag queen has taken Tupperware and proved that it can still party in the new century. Turning her sales pitch into an off-Broadway touring show, Dixie’s take on selling the burping bowls is irreverent, but she has a true love for the actual product. “Tupperware is the best crap on the planet,” she declares. “Your grandma used it, your mother used it, and you should use it, too!”

On her first visit to Denver, Dixie will encourage everyone at the Dixie Longate Puts a Lid on Leftovers and Hate show at Hamburger Mary’s, 700 East 17th Avenue, to laugh and whip out their wallets. “If I can do something to make people laugh, have a good time and store their broccoli three times longer, I’m happy.”
