A Green Machine

Though he's best known for a brief stint on MTV’s The Tom Green Show a decade ago, Tom Green got his start in low-budget community television in Canada and has made a nearly seamless transition to Internet web-lebrity: Tom Green's House Tonight, broadcast online from his living room, has become one of the web's most popular shows.

"It's really an exciting time with the Internet and what's going on with technology now that you can actually broadcast live, two-way television," Green says. "Remember when you were a kid, you used to say, 'Someday you'll be able to talk back to the television'? That's actually what's going on right now. We've done literally hundreds and hundreds of episodes in the last three and a half years, and we're getting up towards three million viewers on some of our episodes — people calling in via Skype, the works. There's nobody telling me what I can and can't do. I'm having a blast."

Green has also just finished work on Prankstar, a film he wrote and directed, and he's kicking it old-school this year with a good old-fashioned standup tour that has taken him around the world and provided international fodder for his web show.

See him at Comedy Works South, 5345 Landmark Place in Greenwood Village, tonight or tomorrow night at shows starting at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.; tickets are $30. For tickets, go to www.comedyworks.com or call 303-274-6800.
