Comic Relief

As any fan of local author Mario Acevedo would tell you, character Felix Gomez isn’t your average vampire: He’s also a private eye. And he’s funny. Ver-ry, ver-ry funny. He battles zombies, aliens, werewolves and nymphomaniacs, all while retaining a certain lecherous charm that makes us love him. If that sounds like the stuff of a comic book worth reading, hold on, because IDW has just published Acevedo’s first Felix Gomez comic, Killing the Cobra: Chinatown Trollop, a spin-off from his novel, The Nymphos of Rocky Flats in which vampire meets heroin dealers in a big to-do hinted at between the lines of Nymphos. DW wanted a spinoff, not an adaptation,” Acevedo says of the graphic collaboration that practically fell into his lap.
