Coming Full Circle

Golden-based sculptor and installation artist Carley Warren has been a fixture on the Colorado art scene for decades. Along the way, she’s developed a unique signature style that refers to nature and human relationships — not through representational work, but by conveying the ideas conceptually, using simple forms carried out in simple materials, typically wood.

Her latest efforts will be unveiled in the exhibit Incomplete at Denver’s Artyard, 1251 South Pearl Street, the area’s only gallery specializing exclusively in contemporary sculpture. The exhibit’s title, Incomplete, has to do with circles — or, more specifically, incomplete ones. The circle has a special meaning for Warren, who says the form “is endowed with symbolism” and links it to everything from the cosmos to a wedding ring. The partial circles here are done in wood and mixed materials, and in the form of wall-hung bas-reliefs.

An opening reception for Incomplete will run from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight; for more information, call 303-777-3219 or go to www.artyardsculpture.com.
