From Farm to Table

Denver’s Local Harvest Foods has just launched the Cherry Creek Valley International Farmers’ Market in conjunction with a monthly supper club peddling locally sourced foodstuffs and libations. The new market, at 710 South Ash Street, directly next to Home Depot, will run every Saturday through October 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and offer composting and recycling and sustainability education classes along with local vendors hustling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to soups and sauces.

“Our market will focus on sustainability and truly local vendors,” says Valeria Dascensa, product development manager for the Glendale market. “We really want our mission to focus on giving more exposure to agriculture in our state as opposed to shipping in food.” The Local Harvest dinners will be held the second Thursday of each month at Habitat Gallery and Studio, 828 Santa Fe Drive.

“The chefs are dedicated to using local food, so you’ll not only feel good about contributing to the local economy, but you’ll eat well, drink well and have loads of fun,” Dascensa says. The dinners are $50 per person, and you can reserve a seat by calling 303-997-2214 or visiting www.localharvestfoods.com/events.
Saturdays, 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Starts: May 29. Continues through Oct. 9, 2010
