It wasnt easy, but Im finally getting used to the idea of Broadway musicals based on comic movies. And vice versa, for that matter, but thats another tale to tell. There was Hairspray. And The Producers and Spamalot and, lately, hysterical visions of Nathan Lane as Gomez Addams dancing in my head. So I guess Im over the hump, or maybe looking forward to the hump, at least enough to pin my hopes for a night of solid musical comedy in Young Frankenstein, the adaptation of Mel Brookss horror-flick satire, a film that once made me laugh so hard that I could only hiccup yes or no for days afterward.
