Go inside the Russian mob, hear Texas oilmen explain how America's addiction to oil will be its downfall, enter the world of "art cars" and more at this year's DocuWest Film Festival, which starts tonight and runs through June 27 in Golden. The documentary-only event won Westword’s Best Film Festival award last year, and festival director Reilly Sanborn promises the 2010 version will be even better. "There are more filmmakers coming in from all across the country, more nights of the festival, more events," she says. "Bigger, better, longer, more fun. The whole kit and kaboodle."

Nearly three dozen films, including feature-length, medium-length and short films, will show during the five-day festival. Along with a focus on women in film and Colorado filmmakers, topics range from colorful eccentrics to profound political injustice and all points between, offering a little something for every taste.
