More About

Back in the days before anyone had ever spoken the word "dubstep," when the nascent genre was little more than a weird trend cropping up on the B-sides of two-step singles, Hatcha was there. As a buyer and, later, A&R man for Big Apple Records, he put some of the earliest releases on the map and helped nurture the careers of early dubstep pioneers such as Artwork, Benga and Skream, playing the white-labels and exclusive tracks they cut for him. He even helped cement the then-new genre's name with his pioneering Dubstep AllStars compilation. Now that dubstep has grown beyond its humble beginnings into a wobbly, bass-heavy worldwide phenomenon, Hatcha (due at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom on Saturday, July 10) is still at the top of the game, deejaying a weekly dubstep radio show on London's KISS 100 FM.
