There are some things in life you just can’t wash right out of your hair, and one of those is the quintessential Broadway musical South Pacific, which, along with such shows as Oklahoma! and West Side Story, pretty much writes the book on what it takes to succeed on the Great White Way. Nostalgia for this kind of staging will be in full force when a new touring production of the world’s greatest chestnut of World War II-driven song-and-dance plays the Buell Theatre, and in this case, it’s fully warranted: The Tony Award-sweeping revival, replete with knockout renditions of “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “Bali Ha’i” and “There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame,” is touted to be a knockout. South Pacific will be at the Buell, located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, daily except Mondays through August 1.
