Gala Gaga

Because she hopes that one day an AIDS diagnosis need no longer be branded the end of the world, local drag queen Ginger Sexton (aka makeup artist Briceson Ducharme) is throwing the Apocalyptic Ball, an AIDS Walk Colorado benefit with an end-all theme. The event, which includes drag and burlesque performers, live art and music, fashion shows featuring both people and dogs, a silent auction and more, begins tonight at 7 p.m. at the Denver Merchandise Mart, 451 East 58th Avenue.

“It’s all about Lady Gaga on the last night of Earth,” says the good-hearted Sexton, who specializes these days as the peculiar pop star. “I love performing as Lady Gaga. She’s so dark and mysterious and hard to figure out, and, yes, I love her.”

Sexton promises an event overflowing with Gaga drama, but also one that you can bring your PG13-maturity-level kids to see. Suggested attire is see-and-be-seen red and black; admission ranges from $10 to $30. For more information or to buy a ticket, go to www.outfrontcolorado.com/eventregistration.php.
