Transparent Treasures

Pismo is Denver’s premier specialist for contemporary glass art, and the gallery is now celebrating its twentieth anniversary with Lino Tagliapietra. “There are two glass artists that every glass gallery on earth aspires to represent: Chihuly, the most well-known glass artist in the world, and Lino Tagliapietra, the best glass artist in the world,” says gallery founder Sandy Sardella. “I’m very privileged to represent them both.”

More About

In fact, although Chihuly is more famous, it is he who has been influenced and inspired by Tagliapietra, not the other way around. “Lino, who is now 75, never ceases to amaze me,” notes Sardella. “While most people his age are slowing down, he seems driven to keep creating, and his technical and aesthetic skills are unsurpassed. Yet he loves to learn, is constantly asking questions, and he is very sharing of his knowledge, always willing to teach the young glass artists who hang on his every word.”

The exhibit opens with a reception tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. and continues through September 17 at Pismo, 2770 East Second Avenue. For more information, call 303-333-2879 or go to www.pismoglass.com.
