However, “Zen” is just the beginning of this multi-faceted event, which puts Asian and Pacific culture on display today and tomorrow at Sloan’s Lake Park, at the corner of 25th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard. “The purpose of the festival is to bridge all the Asian communities and showcase these different and wonderfully diverse cultures to Colorado,” says media contact Kelly Nelson.

The highlight of the festival, which starts today at 10 a.m., is the fast-paced dragon boat competition, in which mixed-gender teams compete over two days in the 250-meter or 500-meter races. Other features include the Taste of Asia food court; the Performing Arts Stage, featuring Asian and Asian-American musical performances; the Cultural Unity Stage, with hip-hop, spoken-word and urban dance; and the children’s area — Dragonland — where kids can try their hand at crafts such as face painting, origami and calligraphy.

Admission is free. For more information, call 303-953-7277 or go to www.cdbf.org.
