SOS Outreach has grown from the Snowboard Outreach Society into a year-round program serving 5,000 young people in Colorado by introducing them to outdoor experiences like snowboarding, rock climbing and backpacking in the Eagle River Valley. Today they’re inviting the rest of us up to enjoy the view from their back yard for one hell of a bike ride.” Expect one of the most beautiful rides in the state,” says Seth Ehrlich, ride director for today’s Dusty Boot Colorado-Eagle River Ride. “After starting out along the Eagle River, you’ll follow the Colorado for about 25 miles along a remote stretch. The views are spectacular, and they’ll help serve as a reminder of what we’re trying to provide for the young people we work with.”

Registration is $100 before Friday July 23, or $130 on Saturday. Ride options from Beaver Creek include a 42-mile loop, a 100k route, or a 100-mile century lap (registration and parking in Beaver Creek’s Elk lot), with the starting gate open from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Whichever route you take, 100 percent of the proceeds from registration and rider pledges will help SOS get more kids off their couches and out into the great outdoors.
