PLAYING THE BREWS

You might know Kyle Hollingsworth best as the keyboard player for the String Cheese Incident and frontman for his own project, the Kyle Hollingsworth Band. But he’s also an avid homebrewer and has an affinity for craft and specialty beers. “I’ve been trying for the past year to connect the two things, my love of craft brewing and music,” he says, and last year, the Kyle Hollingsworth Band embarked upon the Rock and Brew Tour, where they played music and talked about beer at breweries from Los Angeles to Boston.

Get a taste of Hollingsworth’s passion tonight at Kyle’s Brew Fest, a kick-off party for the String Cheese Incident’s Red Rocks concerts (the band will play tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday at the amphitheater). Hollingsworth teamed up with Mountain Sun’s head brewer, Brian Hutchinson, to create Hoppingsworth IPA, which will be available on tap — plus special Kyle brews from Odell, Upslope and Avery. “There will be four specialty beers, while supplies last,” he notes. “Some of the batches were kind of small.”

Expect great beer and good music, including special musical guests. Kyle’s Brew Fest runs from 6 to 9 p.m. outside at Great Divide Brewing Company, 2201 Arapahoe Street; admission is $25, and all proceeds will benefit Conscious Alliance. Visit www.kylehollingsworth.com or pick up tickets at Boulder’s Mountain Sun or Southern Sun or Denver’s Vine Street pubs.
