Says Grandbois of Bedoyas contribution to The Hermaphrodite, The artist I propositioned first referred me to Alfredo as a better fit for my work. Alfredo must have liked the fit as well, for once he had the Spanish translation and so could read the book, he began knocking out these astonishing woodcuts.
As astonishing as Bedoyas artwork is on the page, Denver will get a chance to see it on walls, as well: An exhibit of the originals will open at Redshift Gallery on September 9. Before that, though, Daniel Grandbois will read from and sign copies of The Hermaphrodite (An Hallucinated Memoir) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Book Store, 2526 East Colfax Avenue. Admission is free. For info, call 303-322-7727 or visit www.tatteredcover.com.
