FRINGE BENEFITS

Spanning 12 days, 15 venues and 350 events, the sixth annual Boulder International Fringe Festival is a sprawling good time, with lots of great local and international talent in mediums ranging from theater to film to magic. “Over the past six years, I know a lot of artists who met at the Fringe and started collaborating on work,” says Alana Eve Burman, festival director. “The Fringe really allows that to happen.”

So how can you navigate this sea of artistic excess? The Fringe Opening Night Party, starting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Boulder Draft House, 2027 13th Street in Boulder, is an opportunity to see what’s out there, while meeting and mingling with the people who make the Fringe sizzle. Based on the All-You-Can-Artist-Buffet concept, the party features artists performing one-minute previews of their acts, offering a live-action table of contents for the festival. “It’s a time for people to get really excited for what they want to see,” says Burman. And after each preview, local comedian and host Dave Burdick will do a high-speed, one-minute interview with the artist.

Admission is $5; for more information, call 303-803-5643 or go to www.boulderfringe.com.
