More Gore!

Part homage to the best of gore-soaked exploitation film, part passionate defense of the grimy grindhouse theaters that host them — and all completely over the top, All About Evil is a horror movie for people who genuinely love horror movies. The debut feature of cult-cinema curator/emcee/drag queen Peaches Christ (aka Joshua Grannell) stars such cult icons as Mink Stole and Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira) in a black-hearted comedy about a woman who becomes a serial killer and snuff-film auteur to save the theater she loves. Her all-too-believable movies quickly garner a legion of rabid fans, none of whom quite get how she’s achieving such realistic gore....

“If there’s any political message I want [the film] to have, it’s that I have a lot of anxiety and fear over the loss of our old movie theaters,” Grannell explains. “I just wanted to say, ‘Let’s not let the multiplexes take over our entire country.’ You should go to great lengths to save your local movie theater. I’m not saying you should murder people, but maybe...”
