Green Spaces Denver's first Green Route map, released earlier this year, focused on sustainable and eco-conscious businesses in the metro area. The second edition, to be released online and in print today, will complement the first by doing the same for local restaurants and entertainment venues that support green practices. If you want to know which eateries serve the freshest local food around, this is where to look. But because Green Spaces wants to unveil its latest map in a way befitting its intent, the organization invites the public to celebrate at the first Green Route Festival, a street party taking place today from 2 to 9 p.m. on 26th Street between Larimer and Blake streets in RiNo.

“We'll have an outdoor solar-powered stage, and it will be a zero-waste event. We'll have live music by the Rouge, Air Dubai and Soulaju, and green and socially conscious vendors,” says Green Spaces founder Jennie Nevin. “We'll even be giving away compost.” And because of the new Green Route map's particular focus, expect a lot of food and drink: “There will be local organic cocktails, drinks and food, and both the Steuben's and WaterCourse food trucks will be there.” You'll also be able to pick up a copy of the red-hot foodie map, which lists fifty metro locations. Cap all of that off with live painting by Laurie Maves and friends, activities for kids and a little pagan fire dancing at dusk.
