This summer, the Biennial of the Americas put a spotlight on art from the Americas, and though it’s over, the beat goes on this fall with a celebration of Peruvian art. As part of that, Peruvian artist Carlos Palma has been given a residency here and sponsored by the Peruvian Consulate, the Museo de las Américas and the Art Students League of Denver.

“The presence of an artist like Carlos Palma here makes a contribution not only to the arts of Colorado, but to the connection be-tween the people of Peru and the United States,” says Peruvian consul general Guido Loayza. “His visit opens a new chapter in the cultural relations between the two countries.”

Tonight at 6:30 p.m., the Museo, 861 Santa Fe Drive, will present a lecture titled Conversación Contacto, delivered in Spanish with an English interpreter; for details, call 303-571-4401 or go to www.museo.org. And tomorrow, Palma’s work — along with that of Maria Elena Kaplan, Hover Montes and Kim English — goes on view in The Spirit of Peru, an exhibit at the Art Students League, 200 Grant Street. For information, go to www.asld.org or call 303-778-6990.
