Are you intrigued by anime (Japanese animation) but dont know where to start? Or maybe youve got the taste for it from something like Hayao Miyazakis excellent work (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) and youre wondering where to go from there?
Look no further than Nan Desu Kan, the regions biggest, best and longest-running anime convention, now in its fourteenth year. Starting today, NDK offers something for fans of all stripes. Theres a dealers room full of vendors; an art show featuring more than forty artists; and high-profile guests, including voice talent from Robotech, Fullmetal Alchemist and more. Oh, and there are contests, panels, film viewings and even a rock concert featuring the bands Kazha and echostream.
Weve never done a full-out, blown-out rock concert, says A. Jinnie McManus, the cons press coordinator. Theyll be doing a big Friday concert, and echostream will also be performing in the middle of the costume contest. Speaking of the costume contest, its not to be missed; thanks to the incredible creativity and dedication of the genres fans, its invariably one of the biggest draws of the event.
Nan Desu Kan continues through Sunday at the Marriott Denver Tech Center, 4900 South Syracuse Street. Tickets are $30 for a single-day pass, or $50 for the whole weekend. For more info, visit http://ndkdenver.org.
