“Snowboarding’s always been about going big,” says local pro rider and Snowboard Film on the Rocks promoter Pat Milberry. “We wanted to do something special, something really big, to celebrate the snowboard lifestyle, bring people together and get everybody stoked for the season.”

And tonight’s film fest at Red Rocks may be the biggest snowboard film event of all time. It includes the premieres of Standard Films’ The Storming, Think Thank’s Right Brain/Left Brain and Never Summer’s Made in America. Milberry’s hoping for a sold-out crowd, and he’s got the lineup to make it happen, including musical performances by the Cool Kids, Del tha Funky Homosapien, Bukue One and London Dungeon.

Milberry also stars in Right Brain/Left Brain, which means local riders will recognize some of their favorite spots, from Echo Mountain and Winter Park to the Berthoud Pass backcountry and urban spots like the “Denver Glacier,” as well as footage from around the world. For true local pride, make sure you’re in your seat by the 6 p.m. start time to catch Never Summer team riders Cooper Hoffmeister, Ben Millsaps, Jason Hindman, Rajat Bahayani, Jason Elms and Ryan Cruze in the Denver-based company’s first team video. And The Storming is worthy of its headliner slot: If you thought last year’s double-cork craze was out of control, wait until you see Torstein Horgmo’s triple cork.
