On the Blue Canyon Boys' fourth album, Mountain Bound, the bluegrass quartet does some fine covers of older material from Alton Delmore, Reno and Smiley, the Country Gentlemen, the Louvin Brothers and Bill Monroe.  What's amazing here, though, is how well their version of the INXS song "Don't Change," which the Lyons-based group turns into an energetic, foot-stomping number, works in the bluegrass context. While the Blue Canyon Boys, winners of the 2008 Telluride Bluegrass Festival band contest, certainly do justice to other folks' music, they're also decent songwriters, not to mention damn fine musicians and singers, as displayed on their trio of original tunes, "No Worries in My Pocket," which they slather in blues, and "Rocky Mountain Band" and "On the Banks of the Tuckaseegee," which fire on all cylinders.
