Named after a mythical pickpocket academy in South America, School of Seven Bells is made up of former members of some noteworthy experimental bands such as Tripping Daisy, Secret Machines and On! Air! Library! With this latest project, the trio creates a sound that sometimes recalls the spacious krautrock leanings of Stereolab, with lyrics that creatively explore the human condition without retreating to the realm of abstract experience. From interpersonal conflict to existential musings, a host of human concerns are laid bare on the act's latest release, Disconnect From Desire. In each song, it's never enough to describe a conflict without pondering its solution. Because of this, listening intently to this School's teachings is good for the heart and the mind.
