VIC Cionetti

Spellbound
Self-released

Since moving from upstate New York to Denver in the mid-'70s, Vic Cionetti has played his share of gigs with his group. But there were years when he traded playing out for working a day job. Even after releasing Simpatico in 2000 and selling out the Gothic Theatre, he put his horns back in their cases. Nearly a decade later, though, inspired by a concert he gave with old friends in his home town of Batavia, Cionetti started working on this six-song EP, Spellbound, which features him on soprano, alto and baritone saxes, percussion, keyboards and vibes. Dipping into smooth jazz, funk, tropical and Middle Eastern sounds, Spellbound serves as a good representation of what Cionetti is capable of as a player and a composer.
