Talking Pants

Eve Ensler first performed her off-Broadway sensation The Vagina Monologues in 1996; since then, the series of monologues about vaginas and the women who possess them has turned into an international phenomenon. Perhaps it's because this little play that could speaks to so many aspects of women's experiences, or maybe it's because viewers can take home something different from the performance every time they see it — but whatever the reason, The Vagina Monologues is here to stay, and one local version is opening tonight at the Crossroads Theatre at Five Points, 2590 Washington Street.

Afterthought Theatre Company is putting on the production, and Nicole Schrader, Maya Lea Osterman, Chelsea Rossetto and Rachel Pater will explore the experiences of a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a feminist, a rape survivor, a lover and a host of others during the performance.

The Vagina Monologues runs Fridays and Saturdays through November 19 at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door (cash only). Call 720-365-7754 or visit www.atherthoughttheatre.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 12. Continues through Nov. 19, 2010
