Art that captures the spirit of those who love the great outdoors will be on display tonight, when Alpine Styles: Climbing and Mountaineering Art opens in both the American Mountaineering Museum and the American Alpine Club Library in Golden. The exhibit captures the climbing and outdoor-adventurer lifestyle from the perspectives of five artists: Jamie Givens, Keith Svihovec, Emilie Lee, Mike Tea and Renan Ozturk.

“There's been quite a bit of buzz in the climbing community about the show because there really hasn't been an exhibit like this before, and the art is of such high quality,” says Beth Heller, the library’s director. “It could turn into an annual event.”

The show opens with a reception from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the American Mountaineering Center, 710 Tenth Street in Golden; beer and snacks will be provided (though a two-buck donation is suggested).
