Get a Taste of Fried Nothing

When three-man comedy troupe Fried Nothing came together in 2006, its members went straight for the built-in audience YouTube could provide. Jordan Wieleba, C.T. Polson and Tom Van Meel, friends from college, put their standup-comedy heads together to create dirty Doritos commercials, political ad campaign spoofs and a theme song reminiscent of Bloodhound Gang’s raunchy musings. But it was Fried Nothing’s faux Bob Ross outtakes reel -- a successful morphing of the Afro-wearing, soft-spoken TV painter into an expletive-happy stoner -- that got the trio over a million views.

The guys from Fried Nothing are also active members of the local comedy scene, performing standup and organizing showcases at venues across the metro area. Tonight they’ll invade Club 404 in conjunction with comedian Dick Black’s already-established free weekly comedy show there. Stories of psychotic women and genetically determined comb-overs are sure to fly, along with on-stage booty dancing.

“Standup is kind of like a crack addiction,” Wieleba says. “Once you’ve done it, you want to do it over and over again.” Bring on the freebase and dick jokes.

The show starts at 10 p.m. at 404 Broadway; admission is free. For more information, go to www.friednothing.com.
