Denver native Adam Cayton-Holland has been telling jokes professionally for a few years now (he described his start in standup on the cover of Westword in July 2004) but only recently moved up to headlining at the Comedy Works.
With the lead gig comes more time on stage for Cayton-Holland, whose humor plays off growing up in Denver and such cultural touchstones as Macbooks, ski trips and texting, resulting in X-rated Seinfeld-like gags and more jokes about underage sex. "It's more time to work and craft the jokes," says Cayton-Holland. "I can play around and turn it into a more satisfying experience." And to keep it satisfying for fans who were at his last headlining gig, hell add fresh fare. "There will definitely be some new stuff sprinkled in there," promises Cayton-Holland.
The show starts at 8 p.m. tonight at the Comedy Works downtown, 1226 15th Street; tickets are $12. Cayton-Holland will also be at the Comedy Works DTC, 5345 Landmark Place in Greenwood Village, on Thursday, January 20. For more information, call 303-595-3637 or visit www.comedyworks.com.
