The Musical Comedian

She may be a big fancy star now, but once upon a time, the germ of comedy was planted in Tig Notaro while she was working as a music promoter right here in town. “When I was living in Denver, I was really itching to perform,” says the comic, who originally dabbled in guitar and drums but couldn’t work up the nerve to get on stage. “It was something I couldn’t ignore much longer.”

That itch eventually took her to Los Angeles and her bone-dry deadpan standup, which in turn led her to such illustrious credits as a recurring role on the Sarah Silverman Program and a recent appearance on NBC’s Community, plus appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Current projects include developing a variety show with Siverman, whom she calls “a close friend,” and cutting an album ― another example of her ties to the music industry. (Notaro is the only comedian on her label, an indie outfit called Secretly Canadian.)

Fittingly, she'll make making an appearance tonight not at a comedy club, but at the hi-dive, 7 South Broadway. The 21+ show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets run $12; for more information, visit www.hi-dive.com.

You fail to mention that tig notaro is a depraved predator and sociopath. Her whole career is based on stealing and lying. She is a deeply vile liar and soon that will come out and she will be ruined.
