Mr. Midas

Son of the Crack Era
Self-released

With Son of the Crack Era, Mr. Midas, with his gravelly flow and bouncy cadence, has created an album from the perspective of a hustler that would make Jay-Z proud. The second track, "Talking Bout Me," immediately draws on the paranoia and insatiable appetite for survival found in Jay's "Can I Live" from his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Midas stays within the theme of addiction and illuminates the good and bad parts of the hustling lifestyle. The single "Run My Town" offers more posturing and celebrating, while the Beat Boxers-produced "Hail Mary" is a haunting hustler's prayer with the most diverse flow of the entire project. A very detailed seventeen tracks long (with more than its share of filler material), Son of the Crack Era takes a look at an old concept through new eyes.
