Considering that so many of them are starving, artists always seem to be front and center when it comes to donating works for a cause. Theres a lot of controversy about this among artists in particular but sometimes you just cant say no. Case in point: AIGAs Love Light Lounge Heart Art Auction 2011, where original artworks, handmades and more, many inspired by a heart theme, go on the block against a swanky backdrop with a Mad Men theme. There will be incredible art, sculpture, handmade books and jewelry, says spokeswoman Marian Halliday of the auction. And well be transforming Casselmans into a period-type place. We already have some great designs for the interiors.
The live lounge-lizard music and silent auction, with food, drink and a chance to find the Valentines gift of a lifetime, all benefit Project Angel Heart and AIGA Colorado; youll also be able to pose for pictures, and 60s-style dress-to-impress costume is encouraged. The Love Light Lounge will be hosted at Casselmans Bar and Venue, 2620 Walnut Street, beginning at 6 p.m.; admission is $20 to $25. Go to www.heartartdenver.com for more information.
