Forward Thinking

For most people, thinking about the future means trying to figure out what they’ll be having for lunch or complaining about the lack of flying cars to get them to work. But a few people like to think further outside the box — right into the great unknown. That’s the premise behind The Forecasters, a monthly series that aims to shed light on the future.

“I didn’t want to put a lot of constraints on it,” explains host and organizer Andrew Orvedahl. “Presenters can interpret the scope however they see fit, and I’m hoping this open system will generate some interesting and divergent views.” A number of speakers decoded the future during twenty-minute talks at the debut event in February, including Denver Open Media director Tony Shawcross, artist Ravi Zupa, musician Tim Holland, WaterCourse Foods and business owner Dan Landes and comedian Sam Tallent.

The future thinking starts at 8 p.m. and continues on the third Thursday of every month at Paris Wine Bar, 1553 Platte Street. Admission is free, but seating is limited; for more information, call 303-217-5805 or go to www.pariscafeandbar.com.
Third Thursday of every month, 8 p.m., 2011
