Adam Carolla has long been one of the most prolific talkers in comedy – he co-hosted Loveline for ten years, The Man Show for five and, since 2005, his own talk show, first on the radio and now as a daily podcast. Unscripted conversation suits him. “The biggest laughs are always the improv laughs,” he says.

So his standup tour is a little unconventional. Carolla says he feels it would be “a dereliction of duty” to come without any prepared material, but the show, which includes flashing pictures on a screen behind him, still leaves plenty of room for riffing. “It just gets you to the punchline a little faster,” explains Carolla. “If I’m talking about how fat my dog is, I’ll just show you a picture of my fat dog.” And when he goes off on a tangent, a crew member will start googling whatever he’s talking about and show random pictures on the screen.

Carolla will play two shows tonight, at 7:15 and 9:45 p.m., and two more tomorrow; they're all at Comedy Works South, 5345 Landmark Place in Greenwood Village. (The second Friday show is 18+; all others are 21+.) Tickets are $30; for more information, go to www.comedyworks.com.
