Mugsy's Bar takes over part of the former Naughty Prince

The Naughty Prince had a nice run as "Denver's premiere dart bar" at 7950 East Mississippi Avenue before it finally closed at the end of last year. Now Mugsy's Bar has opened in about 1,800 of the 4,500 square feet (three strip-mall units) of space that the Naughty Prince occupied (the rest remains empty). And while Mugsy's isn't a dart bar, the neighborhood watering hole has pool tables, and the kitchen serves up burgers and pizzas. There are happy-hour specials from 4 to 6 p.m. weekdays, as well as a Jägermeister shot or $2.75 well-drink deal all day.

Mugsy's hits the spot.

Farther south in Parker, The Score Bar & Grill took over the former Goga's Mediterranean Cuisine space at 19878 East Hilltop Road at the beginning of the year. While the stylish sports bar has plenty of HDTVs where you can catch the action, the Score also hosts karaoke on Tuesday nights and brings in acoustic acts on Thursdays. Starting in March, it will also host poker on Sunday afternoons.

Club scout: Since it was founded almost ten years ago, Lipgloss has weathered the departure of two of its founders, Tim Cook and Tyler Jacobson. The third founder, boyhollow (aka Michael Trundle), has stayed on at the weekly night, though, bringing in other residents like Soup and Chase Dobson. But now Dobson is stepping down from his residency to focus on creating original music for Tympanik Audio, and he'll be replaced by option4 (aka Brennan Bryarly), who has guested at Lipgloss a number of times. Lipgloss is every Friday at La Rumba (99 West Ninth Avenue).

In addition to its weekend activities, 5 Degrees (1475 Lawrence Street) offers the long-running Whipped Wednesday ladies' night. And now it's adding Allure on Thursdays, a feature that debuts on February 24 with KDJ Above at the decks. ZetaKaye House's John and Kim Baxter will kick off their new DJ night at Mario's Double Daughter's Salotto (1632 Market Street) on Friday, February 25; it will move to Thursdays after that.

Since opening last August, Absinthe House (1109 Walnut Street, Boulder) has brought in a stream of international house DJs Thursdays through Saturdays. Living up to its billing as "Boulder's real dance club," the venue just launched the no-cover Reggae Massive on Wednesdays: Jah Sonic spins on the first Wednesday of the month, DJ Uplifter on the second, BloodPreshah on the third, and Nikka T on the fourth.

Finally, the Livewire Urban Radio folks are now hosting So Fresh Fridays at All In Sports Bar (7576 West Jewell Avenue), where they broadcast live with DJ Jazzy Joe spinning.
