Left Foot Green

Fun With Vengeance
Self-released

After forming the Denver-based rock group Stinos in 2006, Justin Harned and Brad Jones were looking for a new musical direction, and so they brought in violinist Harmony Greenhalgh and a bassist and drummer and started Left Foot Green in early 2008. On the band's sophomore release, Fun With Vengeance, the five-piece churns out six snappy pop-punk tunes, as well as a rambunctious rendering of A-ha's "Take on Me." While taking a few cues from Blink-182 and Panic! At the Disco, Left Foot Green injects a good deal of energy into the cuts, especially the album's opener, "Dick," with its fist-pumping, head-bobbing chorus, and with Greenhalgh tossing in some slightly Celtic riffage on electric violin run through some distortion. Greenhalgh's violin playing adds an original ingredient to the tunes, some of which can be a bit derivative at times. But even if the cuts aren't anything especially original, the band makes up for it with fervor and energy.
