Mystery in a Mansion

The Mysterious Mr. Love, which opens tonight at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion, has been in the works for some time. Friends and actors Rachel Fowler, Leigh Miller and Jeffrey Roark had been looking for the perfect play on which to collaborate, and once they settled on this script, they had to locate just the right venue – but they never anticipated what they'd find there. After contacting the Colorado Historical Society about using the mansion at 770 Pennsylvania Street as the setting for Mr. Love, the organization decided to give the trio a hand. “In our process of figuring out how to put it together with our own money, the Colorado Historical Society offered to help us produce the play,” says Roark, who's directing the production.

By using the building’s Victorian-era charm as the setting for the thriller, the producers hope to raise both awareness and money for the Colorado Historical Society’s mission to save the state's historic sites. The Mysterious Mr. Love opens today and continues through March 15, then repeats March 20 to 22. The show starts at 8 p.m., but the mansion will open at 7 p.m. for viewing.
