So, a group of Pakistani terrorists walks into a bar. No, wait: a group of Pakistani terrorists is living in Buffalo, New York. Theyre washed up, out of work and utterly incapable of successfully martyring themselves until their boss suggests they blow up Niagara Falls. Thats where The B-Team, a new comedy written by David Holstein and directed by Jeremy Make, begins and, in a lot of ways, ends.

The fact that these second stringers fail miserably, says Make, wont surprise audiences who get to know them: a leader with thumbs paralyzed in the up position, a militant homophobe; a bomb maker seduced by McDonalds and a Jew who hates his mother. If it sounds laugh-out-loud funny even though its about close-to-home terrorism, that because its supposed to. Its fucking hilarious, Make says, laughing. I dont care if youre too sensitive about it. Youre going to laugh. To be fair, there are no 9/11 references and very few references to Islam, he explains. Even if youre shocked, youre going to laugh. Theres no other way around it.
