Terror Error

So, a group of Pakistani terrorists walks into a bar. No, wait: a group of Pakistani terrorists is living in Buffalo, New York. They’re washed up, out of work and utterly incapable of successfully martyring themselves until their boss suggests they blow up Niagara Falls. The fact that these second stringers “fail miserably,” says Make, won’t surprise audiences who get to know them: a leader with thumbs paralyzed in the up position, a militant homophobe; a bomb maker seduced by McDonald’s and a Jew who hates his mother. If it sounds laugh-out-loud funny even though it’s about close-to-home terrorism, that because it’s supposed to. “It’s fucking hilarious,” Make says, laughing. “I don’t care if you’re too sensitive about it. You’re going to laugh.” To be fair, there are no 9/11 references and very few references to Islam, he explains. “Even if you’re shocked, you’re going to laugh. There’s no other way around it.”

The B-Team opens today at 7:30 p.m. and plays Thursdays through Saturdays at the Avenue Theater, 417 East 17th Avenue. Tickets are $25 (on Thursdays, they are two for the price of one). Get more information at 303-321-5925 or www.avenuetheater.com.
