Both tremendously innovative bassists, Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten have pushed the boundaries of bass playing since beginning their careers in their early twenties. Clarke got his start in the '70s backing up jazz heavies like Horace Silver, Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz and Chick Corea's legendary fusion group Return to Forever. By the time Clarke was 25 years old, the word "legend" was already being thrown around. Equally deft at electric and upright basses, Clarke's technique is both flawless and electrifying, and he holds down a funk groove like nobody's business. Wooten, who got his start with Béla Fleck and the Flecktones in late-'80s, has one of the most singular electric-bass techniques around, which is simply thrilling to watch. Wooten just reissued his solo debut, A Show of Hands, which includes three bonus cuts, on his own Vix Records. With two bassists of this caliber co-headlining the bill, it's going be a night of jaw-dropping music.
