With a stage name like Someone Else, it's clear that Philadelphia's Sean O'Neal doesn't take himself too seriously. O'Neal's impressive musical pedigree (his grandfather was a high-school music teacher who played bass with Bill Haley and His Comets) combined with early experience in choir and musicals helped him become a heavy hitter in minimalist techno in the late '90s. The co-founder of both Tuning Spork and Fuzzy Box record labels, O'Neal got his start in indie rock and then moved to electro pop with Flowchart and now as Someone Else. The DJ/producer has garnered tons of accolades for his production and mixing, which is reminiscent of artists like Plastikman and Matthew Herbert. O'Neal, who is quite active in Philadelphia's deep house and minimalist techno scenes, has toured extensively. After his appearance at Somewhere Else — the Pluggden party planned for Saturday, March 19, at 4256 Elati — he'll be hitting up France, Germany and the U.K. through the end of April.
