Asanas and Ale

Erin Bakersmith of the Yoga Mat has been trying to put together a Good Beer, Good Yoga, Good Gracious event for some time — and today from noon until 1 p.m., she’ll finally host a yoga class by the brew tanks of Great Divide Brewing Co., 2201 Arapahoe Street.

More About

“We’re going to do an hour-long vinyasa flow class, pretty quick movement with the breath,” she explains. “It’ll be lighthearted, fun music like we typically do, and from there we’ll move into the tap room for some complimentary beer. The class itself will be intermediate-level; it’ll definitely still be challenging. I still want people to sweat — so that way, the beer is like a reward.” One pint is included with the $25 cost of the class, but after you’re done, you can stay — and pay — for more.

“It’s a pretty great space,” Bakersmith notes. “We just kind of show up and everything’s already set up.” Except for one thing: “Bring a yoga mat and a bath towel to go underneath,” she advises. “They’re going to clean the brewhouse before the class, but they’re making beer there, so put a towel down just to soak anything extra up.” It should go without saying that this event is for ages 21 and older only; sign up by e-mailing ontheyogamat@gmail.com.
