Chamber pop is one of those rare musical forms that doesn't seem like it should work in the indie scene. After all, it takes a small army just to get the sound right, but Dark Dark Dark is up to the challenge. The Minneapolis sextet hasn't been shy about putting its music out there, with tracks showing up on both Grey's Anatomy and American Idol. Toss in Eastern European influences and a clear love for Mazzy Star, and you'll find Dark Dark Dark toeing the line between bare-all American folk music and bombastic European styles. It shouldn't be too surprising that the band worked with producer Tom Herbers (Low) on Wild Go, a record that evokes words like "ethereal" and "otherworldly" in listeners. It's still pop music when it comes down to it; it just happens to sound haunted.
