Studio Life

This isn’t the first time Jimmy Sellars of Sellars Project Space has tried private artist studio tours as a gallerist. And although it died away the first time around, he thinks the time is ripe, with spring in the air, longer days and a renewed interest in art collecting, to bring it back. His inaugural In the Artist’s Studio tour, tonight from 5 to 9 p.m., features an evening with artist Brian Comber in his home studio that includes a tour and artist talk.

“I like the intimate nature of it, and it’s a good way to help people relax and mingle,” Sellars enthuses. “You can understand the artist better when you see him in his working environment — especially with Brian. In his case, this is his home, too, so it goes even deeper. You’ll really get to see him all the way around.”

Admission is free, but you’ll need to reserve a spot in advance online; for more serious collectors, there is a VIP option for $25 with an early-entrance preview and discounted prices on works for sale. Visit www.sellarsprojectspace.com or call 720-475-1182 for information and reservations. For more on Brian Comber, go to www.briancomber.com. Future studio tour subjects include William Stock-man, Heidi Jung, David Menard and others.
Sat., April 30, 5-9 p.m., 2011
