Once upon a time, the two one-act plays that make up Buntport Theaters An Evening (or Afternoon) of One-Acts were paired with other one-act plays. The first, And This Is My Significant Bother, a collection of vignettes based on a collection of James Thurber short stories, was originally tied to The CliffsNotes to Beowulf, which was, well, pretty much exactly what it sounds like. And the second, < Cinderella (or Less Than Cinderella), an almost dialogue-less absurdist interpretation of the well-known fairy tale, ran with Elevator, a piece set in an elevator thats almost all dialogue and no action.
But now And This Is My Significant Bother has been paired with < Cinderella. Why?
No reason, really, says company member Hannah Duggan. Thats just the nature of how we do it like, oh, well put those together because they dont belong together. They really have no business being together at all. Thats classic Buntport logic for you: If it doesnt fit, so much the better. You never know what kind of connections might emerge. And no matter what does emerge from An Evening (or Afternoon) of One-Acts, its bound to be a fitting conclusion to Buntports tenth-anniversary retrospective season. The new combination debuts at 8 p.m. tonight at Buntport, 717 Lipan Street, with shows continuing Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (with a couple of Sundays thrown in) through June 18. Tickets are $13 to $16; buy yours or get more information at 720-946-1388 or www.buntport.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sun., June 5, 3 p.m.; Sun., June 12, 3 p.m. Starts: May 27. Continues through June 18, 2011
