The idea of turning the RiNo Art Districts semiannual studio tour into a safari has been kicking around for a while, says district co-founder Tracy Weil, but its finally seeing the light of day; todays RiNo Art Safari, he notes, promises to be an adventure for all, with more than 100 studios in the River North area which is roughly bounded by I-70 to the north, I-25 to the west, Park Avenue West to the south and Arapahoe Street to the east open for public perusal and good times.
Itll be almost impossible to get to all of them, of course, Weil says. But our real focus is just on getting people here, with no quirky gimmicks. Well mostly keep it simple: We want to get people to the district and maybe sell some art. To that end, some venues will run with the Art Safari theme RedLine (2350 Arapahoe Street), for example, is hosting ARTZOO, which features resident artists in their natural habitats while others, from Plus Gallery to Wazee Union and everywhere in between, will just swing their doors open for the crowds.
Don your pith helmets and venture into the RiNo jungle from noon to 5 p.m., but leave your elephant guns at home. Admission is free; download a complete field guide and map at www.rivernorthart.com or call 303-308-9345.
