The people spoke, and Yoga Rocks the Park listened: The popular yoga session featuring live music in an outdoor setting has moved to Sunday mornings. "There were so many people who said Sunday mornings are so much better for them and their families," notes Erik Vienneau, event director. "Then you can hang out in the park all day with your kids afterward or go home, clean up and come back for City Park Jazz."
And this year, they're emphasizing the "rock" part of the event. "Yoga can be challenging sometimes, and getting in the groove of music helps you really get into your practice more deeply," Vienneau explains. "That DJ is spinning a really good downtempo set, but when the peak of the class is coming, he knows how to pick it up so he can get you through the more challenging part." Vienneau has chosen acts this summer that can move with the instructors' flow, providing much more than just background music.
"There are tons of smiles," Vienneau adds. "If you're new or really experienced, you're going to feel at home. It's a real community."
