We are aging musicians who are not cool and just like to play together and have been writing together this year, hoping to record with Colin Bricker because we like him. We also like Bob Ferbrache. Thanks, Kal.
Casey James Prestwood & the Burning Angels
Nominated in Country
Casey James Prestwood, formerly of Hot Rod Circuit and Drag the River, plays and sings his heart out. His band, the Burning Angels, play true two-stepping classic honky-tonk country music infused with crying steel guitar, spanking Telecaster guitar licks and ripping fiddle. Beware: This isn't new or alt. It's just plain honest country.

Local musicians Nathan and Patrick Meese, formerly of the band Meese, recently formed a new band called The Centennial. The trio is rounded out by Patrick's wife, Tiffany. The debut EP from the group, Second Spring, is available now for free digital download via the band's official website or for purchase through iTunes. The Centennial is a mellow, melodic, family-rock band from Denver. Consisting of husband, wife and brother, the trio mixes ambient guitar and synthesizer tones with towering, borderline-tribal drums and percussion. "We've played in a lot of groups before this," says songwriter Patrick, "but there is a very different dynamic playing with people you're related to. Sometimes it's more difficult, but it also can be satisfying in ways I haven't experienced with other bands."
Choke the Word
Nominated in Gothic
Fun Facts About Choke the Word: They are a band made up of six people (three guys and three girls), some drums, a sampler, two bows, and 21 strings of various sizes and gauges. Most of their songs have time changes or non-traditional time signatures. They only cover songs from Batman movie soundtracks. They all hate the band they get most frequently compared to. They used crowd-sourcing to finance their CD. Their album was recorded using solar power. Their name has no particular significance. Cellos and violins don't traditionally have lights on them.

I am a hip-hop junkie with a passion for scratching and flipping beats. I would consider myself a versatile DJ who can spin many genres, but always hip-hop influenced. I am passionate about my craft and eventually want to take the world on an international level in the DJ battling circuit. I have placed high in national battles — USA DMC Showcase (2nd USA Finals 2007), USA DMC Supremacy (2nd 2010 Supremacy Finals) and Guitar Center Spin Off (top 6 USA 2006). I will never stop until I come out on top! Shouts to my crews: Prime Element, Basementalism, House of Waxx, Hip-Hop Congress and The Crunk Bros.
