What’s That Buzz?

More and more electronic forms are coming to the forefront in the art world, and with good reason: It’s hard to beat the kinetic appeal of spectacles that are only possible to stage with pieces that plug into wall sockets. David Fodel, an electronic media artist and musician, and Paco Proano, a new media artist and performer, have connected to this power with Constructive Interference, an all-encompassing environment in the Emmanuel Gallery that’s been pulled off with high-tech equipment.

More About

“David and Paco have transformed the entire main gallery into a dynamic experience using sound and projections that respond to you and to the building. I’ve never done something in this space quite like it,” enthuses Shannon Corrigan, Emmanuel’s director, who goes on to explain that Fodel and Proano used “interference patterns as metaphors, combining immersive sound and projected visualizations.”

See it all working together at an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, with a performance by the artists scheduled for 8 p.m.; the show continues through August 25. Emmanuel Gallery is located on the Auraria campus; for more information, call 303-556-8337 or go to www.emmanuelgallery.org.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Aug. 3. Continues through Aug. 25, 2011
