Tollund Men

Demo 1
Bleak Environment

The intentionally low-fidelity approach to the rich soundscaping of this cassette helps personify the project's namesake. Sonically, think Nada-era Death in June and Cabaret Voltaire circa 2X45. With the vocals buried deep in a mix of robust bass tones worthy of Bright Channel, alongside surprisingly organic-sounding and dynamic electronic percussion and fuzzy synths shimmering and burning in the foreground, the music of Tollund Men is simultaneously menacing, calming and ruggedly beautiful. Clearly, the mind behind this music steeped itself in early synth-pop, power electronics, the scarier end of goth and ethereal black metal to create a unique synthesis of its influences, right down to the Q Lazzarus cover at the end. Tollund Men is like Suicide gone post-punk.
