Getting to the Four Corners Biker Rally Hot Rod and Motorcycle Parade in Durango today may be half the fun: After all, is there a more iconic way to celebrate the last holiday weekend of the summer than to blast through the mountains, wind in your hair, riding your Harley?

The parade is part of a three-day, event-filled weekend that includes Vince Neil, Loverboy and Joan Jett headlining in area casinos, local vendors downtown, a poker run and plenty of other activities, but it might be the most popular one. "There are all types of custom cars and motorcycles," explains Jeff Murray, general manager of Durango Harley-Davidson. "It's your chance to ride downtown, make all the noise you want and not get in any trouble. How can you go wrong?"

A burrito breakfast benefiting disabled veterans will take place at the Transit Center Parking Lot, 250 West Eighth Street, before the parade at 10 a.m. That's a can't-miss opportunity to do good while having fun, and Murray suggests that if you plan to be in town for today's activities, you might as well come up for the entire weekend. "The weather here is very nice, and the riding is just spectacular," he says.
