The Eat Is On

Before there was molecular gastronomy, before Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay hijacked the Food Network, and even before Anthony Bourdain penned Kitchen Confidential, there was Dish, Westword’s annual culinary bash that extols the city’s best bites, wine sips, suds and sounds. Tonight’s celebration, which takes place at the Ninth Avenue Historic Park at Metro State, a new venue for the seventeen-year-old event, gets under way at 7:30 p.m. (6 p.m. for VIP ticket holders). More than thirty of the city’s top restaurants and food trucks — like Euclid Hall, Beatrice & Woodsley, Le Grand Bistro & Oyster Bar, D Bar Desserts, Biker Jim’s and Manna From Heaven, all invited by Cafe Society scribes to participate — will be dishing out delicious eats.

But there’s more to Dish than dining: Liquid assets, including beer and wine, take center stage with the Art of the Cocktail, highlighting one of the year’s biggest trends. And if that weren’t enough, the air will be filled with the sound of music from local favorites Robert Eldridge, Air Dubai and Rachel Platten. General-admission tickets are $35 in advance and $50 at the door; VIP tix, which include a food-sampling reception and complimentary beer, wine or cocktails, are $75 in advance and $100 at the gate.
